Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The favicon is built entirely in your browser on your own device — your image never leaves your computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Is this a real .ico file?
Yes. It's a genuine multi-size favicon.ico containing the sizes you pick (16, 32 and 48px by default), built in the universally-supported PNG-in-ICO format that every modern browser and Windows reads. Drop it at the root of your site as /favicon.ico.
Which sizes should I use?
16, 32 and 48px inside the .ico covers browser tabs and bookmarks. For phones and installable web apps, also grab the 180px Apple touch icon and the 192 and 512px PWA icons from the PNG buttons.
How do I add the favicon to my website?
Put favicon.ico in your site's root folder and most browsers find it automatically. For full coverage, copy the <link> snippet shown under the tool into the <head> of your HTML and add the matching PNG files.
Can I use a transparent logo or a photo?
Both. Keep the background transparent for a logo, or turn on a solid background color. Use Fill to crop a photo square, or Fit to show the whole image with padding, and optionally round the corners.
